Australian Sea Kayak SymposiumIn 2008, an idea and initiative was born. With the demonstrated growth of Sea Kayaking and other water based paddle adventure activities, an opportunity existed to bring the industry and its customers together. The Australian Sea Kayak Symposium is the first of its kind in Australia where manufacturers and retailers are attracted to present an enormous array of craft and equipment to participants making buying decisions. We also provide the participants with knowledge and key speakers. In our first year we secured the ultimate sea kayak adventurers in James Catsrision and Justin James, our two intrepid Aussie paddlers who crossed the ditch to New Zealand in 2007. In addition paddlers were given practical demonstrations, workshops, keynote speakers and safety discussions. The Expo of craft and gear proves to be extremely popular as many people are able for the first time, to directly compare craft and gear, even trying some of it out near the symposium on water venue in Currumbin Creek. In 2010, we continue to fine tune an event we proudly got very right from the start. The formula is proven so stays the same, combining the Expo, classroom and demonstrations plus the massive on water day on Sunday. Commencing Friday evening at the Tallebudgerra Recreation Camp Great Hall, the manufacturers will have the latest and best on show from here and around the world. Craft of all kinds and all the crazy accessories every gear head could ever need. On this evening we have our special guest speaker, Larry Charles, Film maker, Adventurer and story teller giving us an entertaining and informative presentation. Saturday is back to the same venue for in room and outdoor sessions such as navigation, weather, even kayak yoga. Sunday is dedicated to on water activities as we move to the beautiful Currumbin Creek for exercises, training, learning and teaching. There will be groups doing activities such as rolling, surfing, navigation and paddling technique all over the creek and into the Currumbin Beach area.
